Yes, it funny how some “teachers” had a profound impact on you. I had that one teacher that would keep me afterschool for an unknown reason to me, she was just mean. I was a quiet, shy kid and never acted up in class, but always had to stay after school. I felt I was being punished just for existing.

Then I had the one that was so kind, she even gave me a locket necklace. Her name was Miss Christian, and she had the most beautiful long red hair. I think I was about 7 years old, probably 1972 or 1973.

I’m glad you overcame the feeling of shame. Something no one should have to carry, especially when it was result of someone else’s beliefs.

I in turn, now know I’m allowed to exist, be seen and be heard.

I’ve been playing words with friends with my Eighth Grade English teacher since 2012. I was in her class 84/85. Yes, the good ones are hard to forget.
